Medical cannabis pilot awards
Drexel University’s Medical Cannabis Research Center awarded two pilot grants to Meucci lab members to study how cannabinoids could impact HIV-associated neurocognitive disorders.
Dr. Kelschenbach and Dr. Meucci received a pilot grant to study the natural cannabinoid β-caryophyllene as a possible therapeutic for cognitive impairment using the ecoHIV mouse model.
Drs. Iqbal, Nash, and Meucci also received a pilot grant to uncover multi-omic signatures of cannabinoid use across several public datasets and determine how they map onto or oppose HIV-associated inflammatory signatures in the brain.
