Chunta recently graduated from the Pharmacology & Physiology PhD program at Drexel. Prior to joining the Meucci lab, Chunta earned a BS in life science from National Central University (Taiwan) in 2005 and earned a MS in microbiology and immunology from National Taiwan University in 2008. During this training, Chunta worked on various research projects examining how streptococcus mutations alter host immune responses, and non-canonical functions of the ubiquitin ligase protein FBXL14 in mouse cortical neurons.
In the Meucci lab, Chunta studies how the chemokine CXCL12 modulates cortical dendritic spines, with emphasis on the fate of individual dendritic spines over time. His studies utilize live-neuron imaging approaches coupled with advanced spatial and computational analyses of dendritic spines as well as the proteins within spines.
